Mr. Sergio Benedicto Maldonado, Sr., age 55, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. He was a native of Guatemala and had lived the last 30 years of his life in Florida and Georgia. He worked in a variety of trades and wore many hats from construction to farming. He was a hard worker who was proud of his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Valerio Maldonado.

Mr. Maldonado is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maria Vasquez of Hazlehurst; four children, Sergio Maldonado, Jr. and Jadah Bembury, Maria J. Velasquez, Jessica Maldonado, all of Hazlehurst, and Zaida Maldonado of Tifton; his mother, Adela Santos; two grandchildren, Vincent Bembury and Lola Maldonado, both of Hazlehurst; and two beloved dogs, Coco and Chanel Maldonado.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
