RTCA 7 Memorial 1
The Crusaders traveled to Savannah to play Memorial day school Monday and behind the pitching of Britton Tabor came away with a 7-1 win in game 1 of the 3 game series. Tabor pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 1 earned run and 4 hits while striking out 13. The offense was also led by Britton who went 3-4 and scored 2 runs. Gage Brantley had 2 hits including a double while Blake Durden also had multiple hits and an rbi.
Coach Fitzgerald after the game " not many days you win a region game and don't feel very good about it. Britton wasn't really sharp for the first few innings and offensively, baserunning mistakes combined with poor swing choice led to some frustration with runners being left on base. Lots to clean up here today. Puts us a step closer to our goal of a region championship".

Gage Brantley led the Crusaders both on the mound and offensively, pitching 3 strong innings while only giving up 2 hits. Gage went 2-2 with 2 rbi, Britton Tabor was 2-3 with a double and a homerun driving in 4, Hayden Kight had 3 hits, Brody Randall was 2-2 on the day. Rayce sharpe and Banks Hopkins also added rbi hits in the Game.
Coach Fitz after the game " Gage was much better today than he was last week on the mound, after the leadoff walk, he really settled in and pitched great. Brody picking off the leadoff walk at 3rd was a big momentum stealer. Then we send 16 guys to the plate in the 1st inning. Challenged our guys after the game Monday to have a better approach at the plate today, The started the same guy they brought on in relief that we struggled with and we had 10 hits in the 1st inning. Proud of the way we responded to the challenge and capturing the region championship was icing on the cake".

Banks Hopkins pitched 4 innings of 1 hit ball giving up 1 earned run and 2 hits while striking out 6 on the day. Banks was also one of three guys who had multiple hits in the game going 2-3 with a double and 2 rbi. Gage Brantley and Britton Tabor continued their great approaches at the plate throughout the series both adding 2 hits apiece with multiple rbi. Landon Sauls added a couple of rbi and Blake Durdens 2 rbi Double ended the game in the 4th inning.
Coach Fitz after the game " Just happy about the business-like approach at the plate today. Struggled against the same 2 guys on Monday but today we took care of business early in both games today. Banks looked great, giving up the 1 run in the 1st. The 2-2 and 3-2 pitches were both stick spots, we didn't get the call, led to a leadoff walk, a poor decision 2 batters later on my part led to their only run. He had command of 3 pitches today and was dominant".
