The Lyons mother who took her seven-year-old daughter to Puerto Rico without authorization may soon be heading back to Toombs County to face her charges.
Lyons Chief of Police Wesley Walker said Wendy Salter, who was taken into custody in by Puerto Rican authorities last Saturday and is scheduled for an extradition hearing there on the 18th of April. Following that hearing, local authorities will know they can go to pick her up to bring her back to Toombs County.
Salter, who is the noncustodial parent of Stella Salter, is charged with Interstate Interference with Child Custody. The mother and daughter had been reported as missing for almost a week before law enforcement was able to track their location. The little girl was returned to her father’s care immediately upon being found and her mother arrested.
