Vidalia Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have made an arrest in a homicide that occurred just days before Christmas last year.

Joshawn Devonte Troupe, age 18 of Lyons, has been arrested and charged in the murder of Savahna Rashona Chamblee of Soperton.

On December 19 of last year, Vidalia Police were called to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia where an 18-year-old female patient had been presented with a gunshot wound. Officers learned the identity of the victim when they arrived at the medical facility. Chamblee, was transported by Air Evac to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where she died of her injury.

Vidalia Police and the GBI joined forces to work on the murder case. A felony warrant was issued for Troupe and he was taken into custody Wednesday of this week without incident and booked into the Toombs County Detention Center on one count of felony murder. He has been denied bond by Chief Superior Court Judge Bobby Reeves.
