 0043 GBHCF 2024 Recipient Awards 5.tif

MOUNT VERNON - This year marks the 17th annual Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry
Foundation’s (GBHCMF) Grant Award Luncheon. 8.4 million in checks were handed out to
faith-based healthcare providers on February 8th. This year, Brewton-Parker College (BPC) was
awarded a grant of $150,000 to continue support for the organization's school of nursing. By
providing opportunities to those who have been receiving nursing training and are helping meet
the acute shortage of nurses, BPC is able to give back to the community, which fulfills one of the
college’s core values, servant leadership. BPC’s program provides additional capacity to train
qualified applicants to meet the need for nurses in the surrounding area. These generous
donations will have physical and spiritual impacts on untold numbers of Georgians. This grant is
indicative of the wonderful support we have received in the establishment of the school of
nursing at BPC.This luncheon allows the GBHCMF’s Board the opportunity to recognize those
ministries throughout the state that have demonstrated effective and efficient direct healthcare
services to their local communities by emphasizing Christian living and showing compassionate
care to the ones they serve. The foundation has awarded over $70 million in grants since its
creation, and the GBHCMF is both honored and blessed to provide financial support to these
ministries. The GBHCMF hopes that these funds will help lighten the burden of those who offer
health care services as well as those who ultimately receive those benefits. Brewton-Parker
President, Dr. Echols stated that “BPC is so very grateful for this generous gift that allows us to
have a top quality program and scholarship funds that enable our students to pursue their dreams
of a nursing career.”

GBHCMF believes Brewton-Parker College’s ministry has demonstrated an active service that
aligns with the GBHCMF’s core mission to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ through the
provision of direct health care services. For more than 100 years, the Georgia Baptist Health
Care Ministry has offered a ministry of healing to those in need. Providing grant funds to these
nonprofit healthcare providers fulfills their mission of service through local organizations.

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college south of Macon and north of
Jacksonville, FL. As a comprehensive Georgia Baptist institution, Brewton-Parker College provides liberal
arts and professional programs in a learning community of shared Christian values. Through the
application of biblical truth in scholarship and a co-curricular focus on character, servant leadership, and
cultural engagement, the college strives to provide a transformational experience that equips the whole
student for lifelong learning and service in Christ.
