Christmas is a time to realize that it is truly more blessed to give than to receive, and thanks to the generosity of some of RadioJones advertisers and the community, veterans at the Carl Vinson V.A. Hospital in Dublin will be having a little brighter holiday this year.
For the last few weeks, boxes for donations to veterans in need were placed in sponsors’ places of business, and they, along with individuals who helped fill those boxes, again came through for those who’ve served our country.
Keith Griffin is the Chief of Center Development of the Carl Vinson V, A. Hospital and says the items donated will help them in their mission to assist veterans in need.
“We are very thankful to RadioJones and your partners,” Griffin said when he came to retrieve the filled boxes. “This is my third time coming up and collecting these boxes at Christmas. These items will be used to help veterans who are homeless, struggling with food, clothing, or hygiene needs. It’s donations like this from our community partners that help us fulfill our mission.
“Sometimes it may not be homeless veterans,” he continued. “It may be veterans who have substance abuse issues, so this is also a resource for them. We never know what a veteran who comes through our front door is facing so we just trying to help them in any way we can. And sometimes that’s tough for us to do alone, so we do depend on donations to help us help them.”
