Mr. John T. Jackson, age 87, of Higgston, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was a native of Montgomery County, living most of his life in Higgston, and was a 1954 graduate of Kibbee High School.  He was a licensed electrician and worked with Fountain Electric in Vidalia for more than forty-five years.  John was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Vidalia, and he enjoyed woodworking, camping, hiking in the north Georgia mountains and spending time with his family, especially time spent on family vacations.  He also enjoyed the Chihuahua dogs he had through the years.  He is preceded in death by his son, Johnny Jackson; parents, Jewett Warnell Jackson and Lucille Johnson Jackson; and four siblings, Jewett Jackson, Charles Jackson, Joe Frances Jackson Craven and George “Bucky” Jackson.

His family includes his wife of sixty-four years, Shelby Jackson of Higgston; two daughters, Charlotte Jackson Pierce and husband Elroy of Anderson, South Carolina and Debra Jackson Craft of Uvalda; seven grandchildren, Jeffery Pierce and wife Sandy, Michael Pierce, Brent Craft and wife Sarah, Mackinzie Steele and husband Adam, Taylor Jackson, Coty Jackson and Cheyenne Jackson; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Friday morning, December 1st from 10:30 until 11:30.  The graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon at Sharpe Cemetery with Pastor Wade Dean officiating.
