Mrs. Eudean Thompson, age 82, of Lyons, died March 28, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Lyons and a 1959 graduate of Lyons Senior High School. She retired from Stanley-Blacker Incorporated after thirty-seven years of service and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Eudean loved reading, word search puzzles, baking, and also country music and westerns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Levon Thompson; parents, Henry and Eulis James; and five siblings, Hansel James, E.L. James, Billy James, Corbitt James, and Faye James Copeland.
Mrs. Eudean’s loved ones include four children, Louie Thompson and wife Wanda of Lyons, Louise Thompson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brenda Thompson, and Avery Thompson all of Lyons; five grandchildren, Brandon Salter, Marie Matkins and husband Mike, James Thompson and wife Charlene, April Bradford and husband Jamie, Paul “PJ” Zielke Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Blaine Salter, Shane Matkins, Jerry Smith, Jr., Alanis Thompson, and Sophia Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:00 until just prior to the service.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Wilkes Funeral Home on Thursday, March 30th at 11:00 am with Billy Goodwin officiating. The burial will follow in Hardens Chapel Cemetery.
