Robert Toombs Christian Academy's Varsity Track teams competed at Bulloch Academy on Wednesday, March 15th. It was the first meet of the season and both teams finished 3rd out of nine teams. Senior JaShaun Powell set a new personal record beating his State Championship and GIAA record in triple jump with a 44-6 jump. Sophomore Kylie Acosta, who also won State in triple jump, set a new personal record with a jump of 34-11. Junior Aaron Hankerson also had a new personal record in the 200 with a time of 22.6 seconds.
Here's what Head Track Coach, Jake Wilkinson, had to say about the meet, " I was very pleased with our performance. We weren't able to fill every spot we wanted to due to moving people around and allowing the athletes to try new things. The boys lost three good seniors who scored big points from last year's State Championship team and the girls have a few holes to fill due to injuries and seniors leaving. I think once we get it all figured out, we will be back in the mix for Region and State again. I know they will do big things this year with three athletes already setting personal records and finishing third behind bigger GIAA schools such as Bulloch Academy and Pinewood Academy but we were able to beat out public school teams such as Bryan County and Portal. I'm looking forward to a fun year."
