On Tuesday, the Toombs County Bulldogs made the 30 minute trip south to Baxley to take on the Appling County Pirates in game one of a critical region series.

Appling County got on the board in the first inning when a Pirate singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. They would add another run in the third inning to push the lead to 3-0. The Dawgs would battle back in the fourth inning, however, to tie the game at 3-3. Unfortunately, in the bottom half of the inning, the Bulldogs would give up 6 runs to fall behind 9-3 and would never catch back up losing the game 9-5.

Gavin Hall took the loss for Toombs. The pitcher allowed two hits and nine runs over three and a third innings, striking out three. Tucker Braddy came in relief and pitched 2 and 2/3 inning giving up one hit and zero runs. The freshmen pitcher struck out 2 pirates in his work.

Jesus Quintero went was the guy at the plate for the Bulldogs going 2-for-3 to lead the Dawgs in hits. As a team, the Bulldogs would outhit the Pirates in the game seven hits to three hits.(Courtesy of Toombs County Athletics)

The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday in game two of the series versus the Pirates. The game will be played at home and starts at 5:45 PM.
