In a matchup for the second time this week, Toombs County once again came out on top against Montgomery County. The game started out with both teams needing some time to get the offense going. After the first three minutes of the game, the Dawgs got on the scoreboard and settled in. Toombs stretched the lead out in the first quarter to as much as seven, but the Eagles kept chipping away and kept it close. After trading a pair of 3-point baskets, the Dawgs held a 14-8 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter started similarly with both teams trading baskets and the Eagles keeping within reach. At the 5:48 mark in the second quarter, it was 18-14. This is the point where the Dawgs turned up the defensive pressure and outscored the Eagles 15-1 to take a 32-15 halftime lead.

The third and fourth quarters brought similar play from the Dawgs. Great defensive and timely scoring helped the Dawgs maintain the lead and stretch it to as much as a 30-point lead. After the third quarter, the score was 50-28. When the final buzzer sounded the scoreboard was in favor of the Dawgs at 64-39.

The Dawgs were led by Demetrius Cutler who chipped in with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Dominic Eason continued to play well contributing 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Jesus Quintero joined them in double figures scoring 11 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.

The Boy’s program had a good night overall with the JV team winning their second game of the week, also against Montgomery County, with a score of 50-33.

All three basketball teams will be back in action on Tuesday, December 6th. Come and support our basketball teams as they take on Bleckley County. JV Boys will start at 4:15 pm, Varsity Girls at 6:00 pm, and Varsity Boys at 7:30 pm.
