After several schools in the area received calls about potential shooters on campus, the Toombs County School System released the following statement Wednesday morning:
"Toombs County Schools have been made aware of a possible threat several counties over. We are continuing to operate as normal. As a precaution, our schools are always in a soft lockdown with our exterior doors locked at all times with our access control system. Our local law enforcement and the Georgia State Patrol are also on our campuses as a precaution. The safety of our students and staff are always our #1 priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if there are any changes."
Vidalia City Schools say they have had no phone calls or threat regarding any safety issue for students or staff.
