Mr. G.W. “Billy” Milligan, age 90, of Cedar Crossing, died Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Community Hospice House of Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native of Cedar Crossing, grew up in Long Pond Community, and returned to Cedar Crossing in 1957. He was the owner/operator of Currie Oil in Vidalia, owner of Vidalia Vault Company and was a realtor for twenty years with Tom Peterson Realty until his retirement at the age 85. Mr. Milligan was a past President of the Toombs Central PTA and a member and deacon of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. He was a member and past Master of Milliken Creek Lodge #302, former member of Rotary Club of Vidalia, a member of the Toombs County Board of Equalization, and held an Honorary Georgia Planters degree with the Future Farmers of America. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed fishing and taking care of his grapes, but his pride and joy was his family. Preceding him in death are his parents, Joseph Otto Milligan, Sr. and Ammie Bell Garrett Milligan; and nine siblings, Aubrey Milligan, Joe Milligan, Rufus Milligan, Sara Milligan Smith, Ruth Milligan Branch, Bernese Milligan Callahan, Paul Milligan, Mayo Milligan and Frances Milligan Witt.
His family includes his wife of sixty-four years, Pinky Williams Milligan of Cedar Crossing; two children, Harold Milligan and wife Kathy of Blue Ridge Community, and Nan Milligan Taylor and husband Charles of Cedar Crossing; one brother, Donald Milligan and wife Sandy of Washington state; six grandchildren, Lee Milligan and wife Ashley of Swainsboro, Jon Milligan, Rahn Milligan and wife Whitney, all of Blue Ridge, Clayton Taylor of Columbia, South Carolina, Cameron Taylor and wife Jenny of Charleston, South Carolina, and Sara Taylor of Cedar Crossing; five great-grandchildren, Sierra, Colin, Emmalee, Olivia and William.
A family-led celebration of life service will be held Monday morning, February 7th, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sharpe Cemetery near Alston with Reverend Don Moye officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00.
