Mr. Steve Lewis, age 72, of Uvalda, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native of Lyons and a graduate of Lyons High School. He lived in Carrollton for eight years and had lived in Montgomery County for the past thirty years. He was the owner of the former Eagle Restaurant in Mt. Vernon, a commercial electrician working with IBEW of Savannah, a school bus driver for Montgomery County Board of Education and was currently working with McLendon Enterprises. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and baking, and was especially known for “Pa’s homemade biscuits”. He is preceded in death by his father, Vann Lewis.
His family includes his wife of thirty-nine years, Sue Graham Lewis; three children, Stasha Lewis Richardson and husband Matt, all of Higgston, Shannon Lewis and wife Lucy of Douglas, and Beth Jarman and husband Will of Savannah; his mother, Loraine Usher Lewis of Lyons; four grandchildren, Ella Richardson and Cam Richardson, both of Higgston, and Maya and Lilly, both of Savannah; three siblings, Sharon Lewis Taylor and husband Bill of Carrollton, Jerry Van Lewis and wife Renee of New Branch, and Roseann Lewis Roberts and husband Joe of Milledgeville; several nieces and nephews, including Paige Graham and Dori Hall.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00 at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church.
