Blackie Collins

Mr. Kenneth “Blackie” Collins, age 85, of Lyons, died Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was a native of Toombs County, and lived in Lyons most of his life.  He was a truck driver, working with Randy Brown Logging and George Cobb Logging, and until recently worked at the Toombs County Convenient Center.  He was a member of the Oasis Church of God in Lyons, and attended Rocky Creek Baptist Church and Harvest Chapel Church.  He was a U.S. Army veteran; and he enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Gibbs Collins; parents, Rob Collins and Annie Bell James Collins; one sister, Iris Collins; and three brothers, Leroy “Smokey” Collins, James “Midget” Collins, and Otis Collins.

His family includes two children, Debra Sue Collins Edwards and husband Jeff of Normangee, Texas, and Kenny “Buddy” Collins, Jr. and wife Donna of Vidalia; one sister, Donnell Collins Cartrette of Vidalia; one brother, Bobby Ray Collins and wife Agnes of Deland, Florida; four grandchildren, Rachel Walker and husband Chris of the Murval Community, Texas, Matthew Wayne Edwards of Ruston, Louisiana, Caleb Collins and wife Haley of Vidalia, and Jacob Collins and wife Taylor of Lyons; five great-grandchildren, Kooper Edwards, Bo Edwards, Bitty Edwards, all of Murval Community and, Cambree Campbell and Elijah Collins of Lyons;  several nieces and nephews, including a niece, Hazel Miller and nephew, Edward Johnson of Lyons, both of whom were raised like a brother and sister; special friend and caregiver, Joyce Peebles Lanier of Lyons.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 12th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in Hardens Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
