Top scorers junior JaSahun Powell and freshman Meredith Durden were the top scorers in Tuesday's game against Trinity.

Robert Toombs Christian Academy's Varsity Girls Basketball teams played Trinity on Tuesday, November 30th. The Lady Crusaders lost to Trinity Christian 46-22 but played hard and never gave up. Trinity was ahead by 12 points at halftime but mid-way through the third quarter, the Lady Crusader had cut the lead to nine before Trinity pulled away. "I'm very proud of how we competed Tuesday night. Trinity is a tough and experienced team but our girls didn't back down. Senior Ellie Graham and freshman Kylie Acosta did a great job holding their best player to only three points when she normally averages 22 points a game. We also did a great job on the offense and defensive side of rebounding. Trinity likes to run up and down the court and we did great limiting their fast breaks. If we're going to make it to where we want to be this season, we have to be more aggressive offensively and take care of the ball," states the Lady Crusaders Head Coach, Jacob Wilkinson. The Lady Crusaders top scorers were freshman Meredith Durden with eight points and 11 rebounds, senior Ellie Graham, sophomore Ansley Akins, and freshman Kylie Acosta each contributed four points each.

RTCA's Varsity Boys Basketball teams opened the season defeating Trinity Christian 87-74. Top scorers for the Crusaders were junior JaShaun Powell with 28 points and 10 rebounds, senior MK McBride with 24 points, eight rebounds, 12 assists and seven steals. Senior Tyler Buggs had 13 points, eight assists and eight rebounds. Sophomores Drew Vaughn scored 13 points and Aaron Hankerson scored 12 points for the Crusaders. "With only four days of practicing as a full team, we have a lot to get better at but that was a really good win against a really good AAA team that we can celebrate but now it's time to get to work," says Head Coach Adam Callaway. The win against Trinity was also Coach Callaway's 100th Varsity win with a record of 101-34 at RTCA. "I was surprised! I knew I was getting close but didn't know exactly how far off I was. I couldn't have done any of this without my past and present players, this is more about them than it is me. But I'm very happy to have won 100 games and hope there's many more to come," says Coach Callaway.

On Friday, December 3rd, the Lady Crusaders took on another top competitor Bulloch Academy. Bulloch Academy defeated the Lady Crusaders 54-9. Lady Crusaders Head Coach Jacob Wilkinson had this to say about the game, "Bulloch Academy is a very talented team and most likely the best team we will face. I felt like we competed and played hard and never gave up. Now that we have seen them play, we can adjust and be ready for next time. As I've said before, we play these types of teams for a reason. We want to be prepared for anyone come late January and February. We have to keep working and focus on us and our goal for this season." The top scorers for Friday's game was sophomore Ansley Akins with five points and sophomore Meredith Durden with four points.

RTCA's Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Bulloch Academy 56-17. Top scorer for the Crusaders was senior MK McBride with 19 points. Senior Tyler Buggs and sophomores Drew Vaughn and Aaron Hankerson each had seven points followed by junior JaShaun Powell with six points. Coach Callaway had this to say about the game, "the boys played extremely well on the defensive end of the floor. We harped all week that our defense had to get better and they bought into the task of holding Bulloch to zero points in the first quarter and only seven points in the second quarter."
