A call of a bomb threat at the Toombs County Courthouse Monday morning was taken seriously and the building was evacuated as a precaution.
Lyons Chief of Police Wesley Walker said court was being held Monday morning and the call was made to the Magistrate Office. After deputies from the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office made a sweep of the building, no such device was found, and court resumed.
Capt. Jordan Kight of the Toombs County Sheriff's Office said the Sheriff's Office is considering the threat as "active" and there is an ongoing investigation into who may have made the threat.
