Mr. Jerry Thomas Horne, age 74, beloved husband of Lottie Brown Horne of Soperton passed away on Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021 at their home.

Born in Wheeler County, he was one of six children born to the late Clinton Minyard Horne and Nellie Marie Bridges Horne.  He and his siblings grew up in Wheeler County and he lived most of his life their until moving to Treutlen County in 2002.    He was a graduate of Montogomery High School, Class of 1966.  Mr. Horne spent his entire life working in Heavy Equipment, whether running the equipment or maintaining it mechanically.  In the 1970s he worked with Union Camp in Higgston and in the late 1970s he ran a dozier at the Treutlen County landfill.   In the 1980s Mr. Horne had worked for Container Corporation at the Ochwalkee Woodyard and in McRae.  In 1994 he opened M S Garage at I-16 and Hwy. 29 which continues to be ran by his family.

Mr. Horne enjoyed working, running heavy equipment, farming, fishing and deer hunting.  His family knew if he got on his dozier that anything was possible and anything might happen.  He was a master of scrap metal design and engineering.

He and his wife were former members of the Glenwood Church of God and the Soperton Church of God.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by paternal grandfather Henry Horne of Mt. Vernon and three sisters, Gail Nabb, Sandra Horne and Brenda Aaron.

Mr. Horne leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Lottie Brown Horne, their two sons, Clint Horne, Atlanta, GA, Ellie Horne (Brooke), Soperton, GA, a brother, Gary Horne, Glenwood, GA, a sister, Mary McCoy (Marvin), Savannah, GA, four grandchildren Wyatt Thomas Horne, Abigail Meredith Logue, Colton Harrison, Raelynn Woodward and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from the graveside in Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Reverend Gilbert Posey officiating.

His family will receive friends, on Sunday, at the graveside or friends and family may call and visit at the residence.
