The Swainsboro Fire Chief is facing charges including DUI, open container and improper turn following a crash on Sunday July 25.
Sources report that Fire Chief Michael Strobridge, who was off duty at the time of the accident, was traveling in Swainsboro around 2:20 in the afternoon when he made a wide turn to turn from Advantage Lane onto Main Street. His vehicle struck another vehicle that was in the turning late to make a left turn.
Strawbridge admitted he had consumed two alcoholic prior to the accident. He was released on a $3,700 bond.
In other area news, two Metter women were arrested on Wednesday of this week by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office following a drug investigation.
The GBI reports that Angela Braziel, age 54, and Amirah Braziel, age 29, were booked into the Candler County Jail after the investigation uncovered firearms, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, small amounts of marijuana and Ecstasy along with other drug-related paraphernalia associated with the two women.
Angela Braziel is charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute power cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of marijuana. Amirah Braziel is charged with possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy.
Assisting in the investigation were the Metter Police Department, and the Evans CountySheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
This investigation was conducted to make an impact on the current street-level drug distribution within the City of Metter according to the GBI.
