Mildred J. Payne, age 87 of East Dublin passed away on Sunday morning, June 27, 2021 at the Serenity House in Dublin, Georgia.

Born in Treutlen County, Georgia she was one of seven children born to the late Robert Elmo and Clyde Evester Collins Jackson.  She grew up on the family farm in the Lothair / Rosemont area of Treutlen County.   She was educated in the Soperton School System before going to work at the Soperton Shirt Factory.  She married Wheeler County native, Terrance Vinson “T. V.” Brown Jr and moved to East Dublin.  She worked at as a Circuit Board Technician at Allen Bradley which became Rockwell Automation for approximately thirteen years before retiring in 1998.  Upon retiring she immersed herself in her church and being a homemaker.  She was a former member at the Blackville Church of God before joining Forest Hills Church of God in East Dublin and for the past twelve to thirteen years had been a member at New Covenant of Grace in Dublin.  She had served as a sunday school teacher, choir director, family training leader, assistant clerk and a prayer warrior.

She enjoyed fishing; and more fishing and especially sharing her faith and being a part of her church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, T. V. Brown Jr, who passed away in 2004, three sons, Jacky Samuel Brown, Glynn Patrick Brown, Glynn Gregory Brown and siblings, Dearl Jackson, Leron Jackson and Dorothy Brinson.

She leaves behind: her children, Sheila Greer, Dublin, GA, Ted R. Brown Sr., Lexington, SC, Kay Scarborough (Jimmy), Dublin, GA, Greg Brown, Montrose, GA, Ronnie Brown, East Dublin, GA, Susan Knight (Raymond), Dexter, GA, Jerrie Mayo, East Dublin, GA, Teddy Brown, Orlando, FL, Angie Shortland (Terry), Dallas, GA, Allison Lumley (Tim), East Dublin, GA, numerous grand and great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at New Covenant of Grace, 200 Enterprise St., Dublin, Georgia with her son in law, Pastor Tim Lumley officiating.

Mrs. Payne will be laid to rest in Rosemont Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Eric Scarborough, Nathan Lumley, Ryan Harden, Nick Shortland, Daniel Shortland, Darrell Thigpen and Raymond Knight.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, at the church, from 9:30 am until the hour of service or friends may call at her residence.
