Another Vidalia Indian is headed to Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon to join the Track & Field team. Jasmine Smith signed a letter of intent for a scholarship this past Monday. Smith was a thrower for the Lady Indians and holds the school record in both the shot put and discus. She also won the Region in both the shot put and discus, won Sectionals in discus and was third in the shot put.
"I think this is a great opportunity and I am very thankful to be getting this scholarship. I am looking forward to continuing my career in track and studying to become a nurse with the new nursing program at BPC. I want to thank all of my family, coaches, teachers and teammates for all they have done for me." Smith said.
"To see all of the hard work she has put in and to get this chance is just great. Her mom has pushed her and has always been her greatest fan. We are thankful for everyone at VHS and BPC." James Jermon stated.
"I am very proud of Jasmine, she has been the foundation of the team and helped this team so much. She led in all of our fundraisers and set school records and won Region,she will do well at Brewton-Parker." Coach Mannsy Godbee said.
