Vidalia City Clerk and Finance Director Bill Bedingfield, and City Manager Nick Overstreet were the guests of Chester Proctor on Vidalia Today Tuesday morning, and reported that sales tax and Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax revenues were still up in the Sweet Onion City. The reports, however, are 30 days behind, and Bedingfield said he is unsure what the next reports show since most taxes from hotels and motels are expected to be down in next month's report.
Bedingfield also said that they city is working to make public buildings safe when they reopen to the public including putting shields in place and following COVID-19 recommendations. The City Clerk said he doesn't know yet when exactly the city will reopen for public business, but added he would like to see it soon.
