As our community continues navigate through COVID-19, the City of Vidalia wants to let you know how it will be proceeding forward with city operations over the next few weeks. As a reminder, we also want you to continue to practice safety measures to keep the number of cases and deaths as low as possible during the pandemic.
For the staff’s safety and the safety of the citizens, the following steps will be taken to move forward during this time:
- We will tentatively reopen to the public on Monday June 1st (City Hall, Recreation Office, CVB Museum/Office, Pal Theatre Office, DVA Office). This will include having PPE measures in place for the protection of our employees. Until then, we will continue to operate as we currently are with these offices closed to the public. Please be aware that any of these offices can be contacted by phone or email prior to June 1st.
- Recreation Parks, Pal Theatre, Pool, Rental Facilities (Dixon Building/Community Center) – These facilities will continue to be closed until further notice. If you have a reservation, you will be contacted. Please visit our website (vidaliaga.gov) or our Facebook page (City of Vidalia, Georgia Authorized Page) for updates on these facilities.
- Softball/T-Ball/Baseball Season – The City of Vidalia anticipates having the 2020 softball/t-ball/baseball season. By July 1st, a decision will be made whether or not to have a season beginning around August 1st. Normal baseball activities will occur as if the season were taking place during the spring (Practice games, sign-ups, etc.).
REFUNDS – If you would like go ahead and get a refund , beginning Wednesday, May 20th, the person who paid the fee for registration can contact the recreation department for a full refund if he/she would like one. Requests for a refund can be made through June 30th. Each refund will be given back based on payment method. If a fee was paid by credit or debit card, it will be refunded to that card. If the fee was paid by cash or check, a check will be written and mailed to the payee. If the decision is made to cancel the season, refunds will be given to the person who paid the fee for registration beginning July 5th. - Water/sewer disconnects – There will not be any water/sewer disconnects in the month of May. We will resume disconnects in June. Please be aware that we will contact citizens if he/she is on the cutoff list for the month of May to set up a payment plan.
