Friday night offered the perfect backdrop for a momentous occasion in Toombs County Men’s Basketball history, as the community gathered to honor Chuck Hill for his 19-year reign as the career all-time points leader and witnessed the passing of the torch to the new record holder, Dominic Eason.
Toombs County put on a masterclass in basketball, securing a victory in every quarter with an exceptional defensive performance that limited Tattnall County to just 34 points, culminating in a 63-34 win. This victory not only highlighted the team’s sucess but also ensured Toombs County’s position as the #1 seed in the upcoming Regional Tournament.
Dominic Eason shined brightly, recording 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and a block, while Jesus Quintero contributed significantly with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 steals. Mike Polke also made a notable impact with 15 points, a rebound, an assist, and 3 steals. With these performances, Dominic’s career points tally rose to 1,280, setting a new benchmark for future generations.
The team now has an impressive 20-2 overall record and remains undefeated at 9-0 in Region play with just three region games left. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Senior Night game against Windsor Forest on Tuesday, scheduled for 7:30 PM, to celebrate the seniors before the game starts. The remaining fixtures include away games at Pierce County on Friday at 7:30 PM and Tattnall County on Saturday at 3:30 PM.
