Mr. Michael C. “Mike” McCollum, age 66, of Lyons, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native of Orlando, Florida and lived there until moving to Toombs County in 2010. He was the owner and operator of Landscape Nursery in Orlando for thirty years and continued working in the landscape and nursery industry after moving to Lyons. Mike enjoyed fishing and playing the drums. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvis Eugene McCollum, Sr. and Evangeline Hall McCollum, and an infant brother.
His family includes one daughter, Katie Moore and husband Scott of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Hunter Partin and wife Caitie, Sailor Kate Monroe, Chesney Kay Monroe, Charlie Rae Monroe and Asher Moore, all of Vidalia; three siblings, Scott McCollum, Belinda Stratton and husband Dan, all of Greenwood, Wisconsin and Alvis “Junior” McCollum, Jr. of Bristol, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service will be Monday afternoon, January 1, 2024, at 2:00 at Lyons City Cemetery with Pastor Ken Murphy officiating.
