Senior Dawson McLendon represented Toombs County High School in the Agricultural Electrification CDE, while Freshman Case Conner walked through in hopes to compete next year!
The EMC CDE is an event which provides opportunities for FFA members to demonstrate their skills in electrical wiring, critical thinking and communications. The Electric Membership Cooperation throughout Georgia sponsors these events as a means to promote education in safety and efficient use of electrical energy.
Dawson had to wire the problem given in one hour, take a problem solving test and then give a 4-6 minute speech over calculations and installation of a Pole Mounted Main Farm Service.
This contest takes almost four years to perfect and become competitive since it is the hardest CDE that FFA offers. Case took this opportunity to help grade and go through the contest after it was complete to help him prepare for next year.
Dawson placed 8th in the competition with only a 20 point difference between him and first place.
