Mike Lothridge has a new position as the Head of School at Robert Toombs Christian Academy this year, but his face isn’t new to the home of the Crusaders or to contributing to the education of young people in Toombs County.
“I’ve been in education many years,” Lothridge said. “I had retired several years ago and had the opportunity to help my brother-in-law coach football at Southeast Bulloch and then a friend of mine at church mentioned Robert Toombs. I felt a calling to do that, and I started eight years ago in the classroom at RTCA.”
Lothridge began coaching middle school football, and taught Bible, Georgia History and Driver’s Education. In 2019, he suffered a leg injury and began working part-time teaching only Driver’s Education.
“We found out that there was going to be a change in the administration at Robert Toombs and some people reached out to me,” he said. “I just felt like God wanted me to get out of my comfort zone and come and help since I had 12 years of administrative skills previously with another local system.”
Lothridge officially became the Head of Schools in August, and said, “Through a lot of faith, prayers and the support of the Robert Toombs Christian Academy Board and faculty, I’ve very pleased to work with them and the young men and women of this school. Any way that I can help them, I’ll be glad to do that.”
The new Head of Schools adds, “I believe I’m here to serve. I love the community; my wife Connie loves the community and we’re here to be a Crusader. Go Crusaders!”
