A Lyons man died in a pedestrian-related accident on Sunday night February  27. Lyons Chief of Police Wesley Walker said Hilarion Cruz Gutierrez, a 62-year-old Hispanic Male living at 249 E. Oglethorpe St., Lot 4, was attempting to cross Highway 292 on foot near the intersection of S. Monroe Street when he was struck by two vehicles traveling east. He was pronounced deceased at the scene and after a Georgia State Patrol investigation, no charges are expected to be filed.

The name of the deceased and details of the accident couldn’t be released until the next of kin was notified, and authorities worked with the Mexican equivalent of the American Red Cross to find Cruz Gutierrez family in Mexico regarding his death.
