The 32nd Annual United Way of Toombs-Montgomery-Wheeler Counties Golf Tournament got off to an early start Thursday at 7:00 a.m. on the 22nd of May at the Swainsboro Golf Club. Players started showing up to hit some practice range balls to get ready for the 0800 tee time. Eleven teams teed off in the morning of the scramble format and met the 18 teams that started at 1:00 p.m. In between, the 29 teams were served a superb lunch from one of our years-long sponsors.
The winning team in the first flight was Russ Bell Mark Jordan, Matt Bell, and Woody Woodruff with a score of 52 on a par 73 course. The winning team in the second flight was Hal Chesser, Doug Chesser, Kareem Owens, and Mike Higgins and the raffle for the exceptional TUMI golf bag was won by Wally Adams.
The weather was flawless and the steady breeze amped up the scoring as we were treated to 17 eagles and two double eagles! Many Thanks to the golfers and corporate sponsors and prize donors as all proceeds stay in the three community to eclipse our best results to date.
