The Office of Professional Standards of the Georgia Department of Corrections is investigating the death of inmate that died Tuesday at Telfair State Prison in McRae-Helena.
According to WMAZ of Macon, Deandre Moody has been identified as the deceased. His body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab to determine his cause of death.
Moody was serving a 20-year sentence for armed robbery in Columbia County. He would have completed his sentence and been released in June 2028.
Moody’s death is the first reported inmate death of 2025 at Telfair State Prison. In 2024, there were at least 10 deaths in that one prison alone.
