Major vehicle accidents have been reported in the area in the last few days including a serious incident in Reidsville early last Thursday night. The Reidsville Police Department and Reidsville Fire department responded to a semi-truck rollover at the intersection of Lynntown Road and North Main Street that closed the road for nearly eight hours.
The truck was the only vehicle involved and the driver was assessed on the scene by EMS and airlifted to a Savannah hospital.
The Appling County Sheriff’s Office also reports an accident Thursday afternoon, but in this crash, there was a fatality.
Sheriff Mark Melton said around 5:28 p.m., deputies responded to an accident at the caution light on Hwy 341 in Graham and notified the Georgia State Patrol after discovering a death had occurred.
According to the GSP report, the crash involved two vehicles, and determined that a vehicle failed to yield, striking another vehicle at the intersection. The struck vehicle overturned multiple times, and the unrestrained rear seat passenger was ejected from the SUV. The Chevrolet Equinox came to rest on top of the ejected passenger.
This accident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
