The GBI has been requested by the Metter Police Department to assist in the death investigation of a four-year-old child found in car on Sunday, June 22.

That afternoon around 1:10, officers responded to the Summer Trace Apartment Complex on West Turner Street regarding the missing boy, and several officers as well as the child’s family began conducting a search for Kameron Jamel Williams. A family member ultimately located the child inside the car at the complex and he was pronounced deceased by the Candler County Coroner.

The GBI reports that the preliminary investigation shows that Kameron walked out of the apartment and began playing outside. A nearby camera captured a little child, presumably Kameron, entering the car and but did not exit the vehicle.

Kameron’s body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy with those results pending.

The GBI says that once they have completed their investigation, the case file will be given to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tripp Fitzner’s Office for review.

And in an update we reported on recently regarding the GBI investigation on the death of a Twin City woman, the GBI confirmed last week that Zaria Carr was physically assaulted prior to being shot and killed by her husband Shamarcus Carr on June 14.

Twin City Police and the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office had requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s assistance after Zaria Car was found deceased at her home in the 100 block of 5th Avenue in Twin City around 9:30 p.m. Her husband Shamarcus and her vehicle were missing, and both were spotting just after 11:00 that night in Wayne County. When officers attempted to stop the 2021 Dodge Challenger with Shamarcus Carr inside, he shot himself and later died at a local hospital.
