The Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office is performing an investigation after a call to which they were dispatched Thursday appears to be fraud.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, around 6:37 Thursday morning deputies responded to Wilson Road and GA 92 Spur in Twin City where they found a vehicle riddled with bullet holes with bullet casings surrounding the automobile. Investigators determined that the scene was staged, and that the vehicle was unoccupied at the time the shots were fired.

While full details of the incident cannot be revealed at this time, investigators have concluded that the shooting was not an act of violence and was not a retaliatory incident. Law enforcement also determined that the participants in this action are not affiliated with any particular groups.

The ECSO says the case remains open and investigators are actively working leads and once the case closes more information will be disclosed.
