An inmate at the Emanuel County Detention Center in Twin City had a brief run on the lam Sunday, but he was apprehended and taken back into custody.
Late Sunday afternoon, detention center officials notified the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office that Thomas Wright had escaped, and authorities cautioned nearby residents not to approach him if they spotted him. Local law enforcement, Georgia State Patrol, and the Georgia Department of Corrections set up a perimeter around the detention center and around the small town in Emanuel County, but somehow, Wright was able to make his way into Candler County where he stole a white 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe from a resident near the 41000 block of Olifftown Road in Metter.
A description of vehicle was sent out statewide, and early Monday morning, Wright was successfully captured and taken back into custody in Richmond County.
