The Department of Government Efficiency overseen by Elon Musk is reaching its proverbial arm into the Vidalia area by closing the local Social Security Administration Office.

A total of 47 offices nationwide will be closed, with the Southeastern part of the United States hit the hardest with Georgia seeing the highest number of closures at five offices including Vidalia, Brunswick, Columbus, Gainesville, and Thomasville.

Area Social Security recipients who utilize the office will be able to access their information by creating an account on www.ssa.gov or by visiting offices in Statesboro or Dublin, which are the nearest to Vidalia.

No definite date for the final date of closure  has been announced for the Vidalia Social Security Administration’s Office closure.
