The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Wrightsville has arrested a high school and middle school coach and educator for allegedly having improper sexual conduct with student.
Charles Beale was taken into custody on November 16 as a result of information obtained by the Sheriff’s Office the previous evening.
According to a press release from the Sheriff Greg Rowland, officers worked throughout last weekend gathering evidence and facts before an arrest warrant for Beale was issued.
After organizing their findings, Major Jeff Coleman, Capt. Angie Coleman, Investigator Troy Fallin, Investigator Randy Sumner, and Sgt. Jose Soto implemented a plan and went to Laurens County to execute the arrest warrant. Beale was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Johnson County Jail.
Law enforcement concluded that Beale allegedly had sexual contact with the student from August of this year to this month. He is charged with 20 counts of improper sexual conduct with a student.
The Johnson County Board of Education has issued its own press release, stating that the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office had notified the Board regarding the allegations against Beale which resulted in his arrest and the Board is fully cooperating with law enforcement. The school district noted that the well-being of the students in the system is of the utmost importance to the district. While the Board doesn’t specify what actions it will take against the educator, it is noted that his name no longer appears in the staff directory on the Johnson County Board of Education’s website.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation of the charges against Beale remains active and ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Capt. Angie Coleman at 478-684-4003.
