Robyn Award 002

Lt. Robyn Banks, Warrant/TAC Officer for the Toombs County Sheriff's Office, received national recognition recently for her role in overseeing the county’s 89 active registered sex and violent offenders. OffenderWatch recognized Lt. Banks for excellence in meeting the sex offender registry (SOR) objectives and including a high level of descriptive information in offender records, which helps improve critical investigations.

Lt. Banks ensures complete, accurate and comprehensive offender records; tracks offenders moving in and out of the county; and promotes interagency cooperation with the U.S. Marshals Service investigating and locating absconded offenders. Toombs County Sheriff's Office uses the technology OffenderWatch, the nation’s leading sex offender registry management partner, to keep track of registered sex offenders, often using the system to aid in investigations and proactively improve public safety. Lt. Banks was one of 59 chosen to receive the award out of 15,000 OffenderWatch users from more than 4,000 agencies.

“We are extremely proud of Lt. Robyn Banks for being among the Top .4% of OffenderWatch users,” said Toombs County Sheriff Alvie Lee Kight, Jr. “She has continually worked behind the scenes to manage and coordinate all of the sex offender registrants in Toombs County. Her innovative and efficient use of the network saves our agency man hours and is an excellent example of the quality of service she gives daily.”

“It is apparent that public safety is a top priority in Toombs County with Lt. Robyn Banks and the staff working together to go above and beyond what’s required by state law,” said Mike Cormaci, president of OffenderWatch. “At OffenderWatch, our goal is to provide agencies, with their limited resources, the best tools and practices to help increase efficiency and save man hours. It is our elite users like Lt. Banks that make the power of the network stronger and helps provide the public with all the information necessary to help prevent the unthinkable.”

Toombs County Sheriff's Office is responsible for managing, tracking and verifying registered sex offenders in the jurisdiction. The office is also responsible for notifying the public of registered sex offenders.

About OffenderWatch

There are over 850,000 registered sex offenders in the United States. Many states have different systems for registering and tracking these offenders, making it difficult for agencies to track offender relocations across state lines, share electronic offender records, and collaborate on investigations. OffenderWatch works with law enforcement agencies to provide national network of registries and notification tools to easily communicate information to the public. Founded in 2000 in Covington, La. under the Watch Systems company, OffenderWatch provides a variety of services to sheriffs’ offices, police departments, Attorney’s General offices, U.S. Marshal judicial districts, U.S. attorneys, federal and state probation and parole agents, departments of corrections, Indian tribes, and more. OffenderWatch partnered with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Canada to deliver the Canadian National Sex Offender Registry. In 2019, OffenderWatch launched a new, patented technology, the OffenderWatch App. The mobile app locates registered sex offenders near parents and their kids and identifies online contact from registered sex offenders through a kid’s electronic device or if their device lingers near an offender’s residence, instantly alerting parents to the communication.
