A man lost his life Saturday afternoon in Candler County after he stopped to change a tire on Interstate 16.

Around 4:40, Bulloch County First Responders were called to the scene of a pedestrian who had apparently been the victim of a hit and run. First responders found him lying on the shoulder of the highway.

Candler County Coroner Jamie Anderson and Deputy Coroner Darien McCray responded to the scene of the accident as well as the Georgia State Patrol. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.

Law Enforcement is looking for a white pickup truck, possibly a Dodge or Ford Model believed to be involved. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything or have knowledge to come forward by contacting GSP Post 45 at 912-688-6999.
