Members of the Vidalia High School FCCLA attended the National Leadership Conference in Seattle, Washington (June 29th- July 3rd), and returned with high marks, securing a remarkable 2nd and 3rd place finish in the Nation.
Braylie Davis and Noah Varn placed 2nd at the National Conference for their "'Tis the Season to Celebrate Our Differences" event at the Pal Movie Theater. The event took place on Monday, December 18th, 2023, and was created with the intent to bridge the gap between children with special needs and their peers to provide a safe, fun, and inclusive activity that the whole family could enjoy.
The event featured a special showing of The Grinch and special treats. Braylie and Noah raised $1,500.00 to donate to Toombs County Special Olympics.
Hillaree Hankerson, Sanaya Lewis, and Rori Johnson placed third at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference for their Public Policy Advocate Project. Their goal was to inform our local community about the issues African Americans face regarding hair discrimination and raise awareness about the importance of passing the C.R.O.W.N. Act into legislation.
"These students, with their remarkable leadership and poise, continue to amaze me!” said VHS FCCLA Sponsor Amanda Mosley. “I'm honored to walk alongside them and witness their growth!”
Other members who attended were Cristal Franklin, Georgia Meredith, and Jaden Morris.
