Nate Truxel and Donnie Daniels install a new AED in a Montgomery County Office.
Donnie Daniels wears multiple hats in his professional life: Pastor, Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Director, Montgomery County Code Enforcement Officer, and most recently, Montgomery County Safety Officer. In that new position, Daniels is already implementing procedures that can help save the lives of people in the County.
“One of the first things I’ve done is look at the buildings to make sure they are safe,” he said. “Another thing we’re doing now is certifying all our county employees in CPR, and we’re at about 98 percent of having that complete. We’re going to install new AEDs in all the county buildings along with 1st Aid kits and breathing apparatuses so that they will be easily accessible.
“We’re also going to put new 1st Aid kits and tourniquets in all of the County Road Departments,” he continued. “They are the ones most likely to be hurt or see a situation where their training county be beneficial.”
Daniels said he will be inspecting all the fire extinguishers to ensure they are in compliance and fully charged.
“The idea is to keep all of our employees and people in our county buildings safe,” he concluded.
The new Safety Officer said the equipment and training will be paid for from funds allocated to the grounds and buildings line item already approved in the budget and will not cost taxpayers in Montgomery County any additional funding.
