Each year Lions Clubs across the state are given the opportunity to nominate someone for the Outstanding Deaf Award. This Award is presented to a hearing impaired person, residing in the State of Georgia, whose outstanding achievements and contributions are an inspiration to others.

This year, the Lyons Lions Club proudly nominated Brock Nobles for this prestigious recognition and was thrilled that he was awarded the recognition on April 26, 2024 in Dublin, GA at the Multiple District 18 / Lions of Georgia State Convention. Brock's remarkable journey, characterized by his resilience and determination exemplifies the very essence of this award.

Brock resides in Lyons, Georgia, with his parents, Tabitha and Derrick Nobles and younger brother, Dax. A current senior at Toombs County High School, Brock has accepted a full scholarship offer to play football at The Citadel.

Brock Nobles was born deaf and at the age of 18 months received a cochlear implant, a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of his extraordinary journey to overcome barriers and excel in every aspect of his life.

His achievements in the classroom, marked by a stellar 3.9 GPA and enrollment in rigorous Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses, underscore his intellect and commitment to academic excellence.

On the athletic front, Brock's accomplishments speak volumes about his tenacity and dedication. As a standout performer in football, wrestling, and track, he has earned multiple All-Region and All-State recognitions, showcasing his exceptional talent and leadership on the field. Moreover, his full scholarship offer to play Defensive Line at The Citadel is a testament to his remarkable athletic ability and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Beyond his academic and athletic achievements, Brock has demonstrated a commitment to serving his community. His involvement in volunteer activities, such as community cleanups, blood drives with the American Red Cross, and mentoring younger students, reflects his compassionate spirit and desire to make a positive impact.

Brock's journey is a testament to the unwavering support of his parents and grandparents who have encouraged normalcy despite his hearing impairment. Their steadfast belief in Brock's abilities and their unwavering dedication to his well-being have undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping him into the exceptional individual he is today.
