TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Brewton-Parker Baseball traveled to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a Southern States Athletic Conference series at Stillman (Ala.) this week.

The Barons (13-9, 5-3 SSAC) dropped the Tigers (7-9, 2-6 SSAC) in a pair of victories, 13-3 and 12-0 on Thursday afternoon.

The Barons opened the game with an RBI single to right field from Michael Son before following up with five runs in the second inning. Jack Morris reached on an error to help score a run while Carson Kirby was credited for an RBI on a groundout to move BPC to a 3-0 lead.

How It Happened | G2 – BPC 12, SC 0

In the second game, the Barons blanked the Tigers while allowing just four hits in the contest. After a scoreless first inning, BPC opened with two runs being pushed in on a single which scored runners on an error followed by a third run scored on an RBI triple from Lawrence for the 3-0 lead.

In the fifth, the Barons added two more runs off an RBI triple from Son and an RBI double to centerfield from Mantooth for a 5-0 lead. Brewton-Parker added three more in the top of the sixth inning with RBI singles from Lawrence, Dawson, and Son for an eight-run advantage.

After a couple of scoreless innings, Brewton-Parker topped the game off in the ninth with an RBI double from Kirby, an RBI single from Lawrence, an RBI walk from Dawson, and an RBI double from Son to close out with the 12-0 shutout.

Kennard Dawson continued things with a two-RBI single for a 5-0 lead and was followed by Brandon Lawrence stealing home for the sixth run of the game and fifth of the inning.

Stillman responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI triple, but Brewton-Parker continued to produce offensively by scoring three runs in the fifth inning. Son produced another RBI single while Caleb Strott stole home for an 8-1 lead. Lastly, an error from Morris’ at-bat scored the ninth runner of the game for BPC.

In the sixth, a two-RBI single cut the Stillman deficit to six. However, Brewton-Parker found a way to add to the tally with four more runs being pushed home in the seventh. Kirby notched an RBI single while Lawrence was hit by a pitch with loaded bases. After a fielder’s choice from Dawson, BPC scored for 12 runs before Kirby stole home for the 13-3 advantage.(Courtesy of BPC)
