The Robert Toombs Lady Crusaders Basketball team defeated Crisp Academy 43-22 in the Final 4 game Wedneday at BPC.They will be playing for the GIAA Class A State Championship Friday in Columbus at 3:00pm against Fullington Academy.
Head Coach Jake Wilkinson commented, ":I'm so proud of how our girls played last night. The way they came out and played hard and in sync - I couldn't be more happy for them. The start of the game we got down early and got into foul trouble. Bree Wimberly only played for 5 minutes in the first half along with Kylie Acosta but our bench stepped up. Rachel Threlkeld, Leighton Williams, and Kailen Brantley came in and gave us great effort to get into the second half. The game was tied at the half. Once we came back out after the half we had a slow start. But was able to turn it around in the middle of the 3rd. We pulled away with some big shots from Emmie Davis, Meredith Durden, and Ansley Akins. Our girls went on a 30-1 run to pull away and put them in the State Championship. Our girls showed heart and depth last night and I'm so excited for our program."
Top scorers were:
Meredith Durden 13 points
Ansley Akins 11 points
Bree Wimberly 11 points
