9 20 23 Toombs SB

In a tightly contested game on Tuesday, the Toombs County Lady Dawgs Softball team edged out Brantley County for a 3-1 region victory.

The spotlight was on Shay Stringer, who pitched for the Lady Dawgs. She showcased her prowess in the circle, giving up just one hit and one unearned run over seven innings. Stringer also managed to strike out seven batters. She issued two walks.

Toombs County set the pace early on, taking the lead in the first inning when Casey Cantwell hit a single that drove in Nora Grace Mercer from second. They would add runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take the win.

The Lady Dawgs exhibited a balanced offensive performance. Natalie Quintero, Mercer, Stringer, and Cantwell each secured a hit. Additionally, Quintero, Kassidy Brantley, and Cantwell contributed by driving in a run apiece.

The Lady Dawgs are gearing up for their next region game, hosting Pierce County on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 6:00 PM.
