Two Vidalia Indian Student-Athletes inked their let of intent to play at the next level Thursday in a signing ceremony held in the VHS Auditorium. Senior Football Player Cason Banks will attend Berry College in the fall, where he will play football for the Vikings. Senior Golfer Sloan Fountain will take his talents to Brewton Parker, where he will play golf for the Barons.
Banks, a two-year letterman, and special team standout, racked up a 22.5 yd average as the leading kick return man for the Indians in 2022, with a memorable return for a TD against Appling Co. He also had over 500 all-purpose yards this fall while receiving Honorable Mention honors on the Region 3AA Team as a WR. Banks also contributed on the defensive side of the ball, where he had 8 solo tackles (including 1 for a loss) and 6 assists. Banks was also an outfielder on last year’s State Championship Baseball team, where he was an All-Region outfielder for the Indians.
Fountain is a 3-year player for Coach Chad Barker and recently led the Indians to their 3rd straight Area Championship, posting a 76, while helping the Indians to a 20-stroke victory over 2nd place Toombs County. The 76 was one stroke out of 1st place. Fountain’s two-year scoring average sits at 77.1, with the State Championships to still be played on May 22nd & 23rd.(Courtesy of Vidalia Athletics)
