On Thursday, the Toombs County Bulldog Baseball team seized a victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, to defeat the Appling County Pirates in the bottom of the 12th inning.

In the bottom half of the 12th, Trayvone Harris led off with a single. This was followed by a double by Brantley Upshaw. Appling County would then intentionally walked Wil Watts. This would bring up Jesus Quintero who hit a hard ground ball that resulted in a throwing error by the Pirates pitcher that scored Harris to give the Bulldogs the victory.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Toombs County struck out five, while Appling County pitchers sat down nine.

The Bulldogs captured the lead in the third inning when Dawson Brantley hit his first solo home run of the year. The Pirates would even things up at two in the top of the seventh inning when Mason Williamson singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Tucker Braddy took the win for Toombs. The right-hander went four and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit. Lucas O’Conner started the game for the Dawgs and pitched well. The pitcher lasted seven and a third innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out five.

Toombs tallied seven hits on the day with Dawson Brantley and Trayvone Harris each had multiple hits for the Dawgs.
