The City of Vidalia has hired a new code enforcement officer who comes to the Sweet Onion City with the experience required to hit the ground running.
At the March meeting of the Vidalia City Council, the members unanimously approved the appointment of Chad Phillips on the recommendation of City Manager Nick Overstreet. Phillips says he’s looking forward to serving the citizens of Vidalia in his new position.
“My job will be to see that the city’s ordinances and the safety of our citizens are upheld,” he said.
For the last year, he has been working with the City of McRae-Helena, but worked as a deputy building official with Baldwin County for four years prior.
“I was born in Washington County and now I live in Lumber City,” he said. “I’m familiar with rural government and how they work.”
“I’m excited to join with the City of Vidalia,” Phillips continued. “It’s my goal to help make the city the best I can.”
