Midge Galbreath

We are heartbroken to announce the death of our mother and grandmother, Midge Galbreath.  She sadly passed away Sunday morning, March 12th, 2023, after a very brief illness at the age of 86. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her and a great friend to many people.  She was well loved in her community.

Born Elvenoir Cooper January 24th, 1937 to parents Obed and Blanche Peterson Cooper in the small community of Lothair, Treutlen County, Georgia.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years, Hilburn Keith Galbreath; her brother, Ronald and sister, Elizabeth.

She will be missed by her daughters Pamala Sue (Albert), Sharon Leigh and Brenda Ann. Grandchildren Mallory Elise, Elijah Keith, Meredith Ruth (Kilah), Jacob Alan (Kaila) and as always her “ baby of the family” Christian Brandan. Her brothers, Laymond Laramie and Elton Jerome (Pete) Cooper.

What started out as co-workers, the Sea Island gals quickly turned into lifelong besties and the Sunday school ladies from First Baptist Church on St. Simons were very dear friends whom she cherished.  She leaves two other very special people behind that she considered her daughters, Nancy Jo and Sherry Marie.

After graduating Vidalia High School in 1954 Mom was a great wife and homemaker. She certainly got her steps in and retired from the Cloister Resort, Sea Island Georgia with 40 years of service. She had several great loves: She was obsessed with food…(cooking, eating, feeding people) and raking leaves. She mastered both.

We will honor her Saturday morning, March 18th, Eleven o’clock at the First Baptist church on St. Simons Island. We will gather together in the social hall afterwards for hugs and then lay her ashes to rest beside our father at Five o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday at the Galbreath Cemetery, Ailey Georgia.
Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Mom “trained us up” and now that we are old we hope we stay the course …..
We Love you Momma
Rest easy

Obituary was written by her daughters.
