The Vidalia Wrestling team continued to show why they are a force to be reckoned with in the GHSA 2AA ranks, qualifying all eleven of their wrestlers for the upcoming GHSA State Sectionals and a 2nd Place team finish at the 3AA Area Tournament Saturday in Lyons.
The Indians had five individual Champions, including Deuce Hightower (150), Jack Godbee (157), Sam Sapp (165), Jesiah Townsel (175), and Stephen Cheeks (285). In all nine Indian wrestlers qualified for this Saturday’s AA Sectional Meet, which will be held at Putnam High School in Eatonton.
Vidalia Head Coach Bobby Blount was obviously happy with the results, saying, “I am Proud of our guys for stepping up to the challenge of qualifying the whole team. We think a lot of our kids can see themselves on the podium in 2 weeks. The hard work is starting to show.”
