Charles David Ennis

Charles David Ennis age 61 of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on November 5, 2022. He was a native of Lyons, GA. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Ennis; his mother, Claudia Hunter Merritt; his stepfather, Dr. Ben Merritt; and many beloved grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

His family includes his life partner Inge Kiesling and her daughter Danielle; sisters, Kimberly Alexander (Tommy); stepsisters Shawnee Merritt and Brooke Martin (David); stepbrothers Jonathan Merritt (Philicia), Dartlon and Ben Merritt; step-mother Caroline Merritt; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

David committed much of his life and energy to helping others and seeking to bring happiness to everyone around him.  He truly loved his family and loved spending time with them. He was a skilled HVAC technician, but his true passion was always music. As an accomplished drummer, David performed with some of the most popular local bands and musicians in the Hilton Head/Savannah area, including performances for the Hilton Head theater organization. He was a former member of the Lyons HS Marching Band and a former member of the Toombs County-based band 280 Cruisers, during which time he and his brother Jonathan enjoyed a life-long dream of performing together in a professional setting.

David had an avid interest in the world around him, and often encouraged his family, friends, and fellow workmates to see the positive side of things and to never take life for granted. His personality was always energetic and uplifting; and he always had the biggest laugh. His powerful and positive influence on all those who knew him will forever be a part of our lives. He will be forever missed and loved.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2:00 to 3:00pm at Lyons First United Methodist Church with a memorial at 3:00 followed by a graveside burial at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Vidalia GA.
